What makes you proud to be a part of the Little Schools?
The tight knit community, the trust the parents have in the teacher’s experience and expertise, the director’s support and understanding (not only as teachers but as individuals). knowing that the culture we’ve created here, matters in big ways and has long lasting effects on the way we (children, families, and teachers) will interact with the world.
What's something that always makes you smile?
small, sincere moments where connection is real and unforced, a child saying something unexpectedly wise or funny.
More About Sinai
Born and raised in San Jose, CA, my journey in nurturing young minds began at the age of 16 when I became the lead choral director for my church's children's choir. This early experience ignited my passion for teaching and laid the foundation for my career in early childhood education.
After marrying my high school sweetheart, I moved to the East Bay, where my dedication to working with children only grew. Fascinated by the inner workings of their little big minds, I pursued higher education, double majoring in Social and Behavioral Sciences and Early Childhood Education. Currently, I am a college student at San Jose State University, working towards a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in Educational and Community Leadership.
My love for music has always been a significant part of my life. I learned to play the trumpet at the age of 9 and eventually picked up other brass instruments like the euphonium. Throughout my school years, I actively participated in marching bands, jazz bands, and even took on roles in the theater program, such as playing Ariel in "The Little Mermaid." I thoroughly enjoy incorporating my passion for music into my teaching style, through singing and rhythmic activities.
Outside of teaching, I am an active member of my church choir, where I participate alongside my husband. I enjoy playing basketball with friends on the weekends, reading a variety of books, and making lattes at home!
I am privileged for the opportunity to learn firsthand from experienced teachers at Rockridge Little School, each with their unique philosophies and talents. Their wealth of knowledge and diverse perspectives enrich our educational community, and I am eager to soak in all the wisdom they have to offer. I am committed to creating a nurturing and engaging learning environment where every child can thrive. I am excited to bring my passion for teaching to Rockridge Little School, and I look forward to being a part of your child's educational journey.
What’s your superpower in the classroom?
My ability to see children. Not just behavior, not just milestones but their emotions, their patterns, what’s underneath the noise. responding to that.
What makes working with young children special to you?
I’m drawn to the beginning of things. Early childhood is where foundations are formed that will last us our lifetime, trust, confidence, language, self-worth — and I take this responsibility seriously. I don’t see “just kids” but future people, who will be a part of and give back to society in the best way possible. I care deeply about how warmly and intentionally their story begins.
