More About Maria
As a child, I dreamed of becoming an educator and finding meaningful ways to support my community. My teaching journey began in college, when a director noticed my warm, natural connection with students during a class observation. That opportunity opened the door to a world where singing songs and bringing puppets to life through stories quickly became some of my favorite ways to teach.
Through music, singing, dancing, and joyful interactions with children, I am able to spark imagination and creativity. I earned my B.A. in Human Development from East Bay University. When I’m not at school or working with children, I love writing poetry, exploring national parks, and enjoying family game nights filled with bingo, card games, and my grandma’s favorite—Lotería!
I’m excited to help create a warm, playful, and curious space for our little learners at RLS.
What’s your superpower in the classroom?
Listening deeply. I love tuning into children’s theories, questions, and ideas, and helping extend their thinking in meaningful ways.
What makes working with young children special to you?
Young children approach the world with wonder, honesty, and endless curiosity. Being invited into their discoveries and learning alongside them is such a privilege.
