More About Laura
I grew up in the beautiful East Bay and am the oldest of 4! I am big on family and give my 100% when it comes to supporting those I love. In my free time you can find me at the gym, building botanical lego sets, and spending time with my loud family.
I am fluent in Spanish and English- I have experience tutoring children and encouraging expansion on language skills through songs and play. I worked retail and as a sitter while attending Chabot Community College to fulfill my education. Shortly after graduating in 2021 I began my first job as a preschool teacher at a play-based center in the East Bay. After two years and an assistant director promotion later, I am ready to apply my knowledge and expand my experience in early childhood education with Rockridge Little School.
My youngest sister is diagnosed with Mitochondrial disorder which limits her physical and cognitive skills and throughout the process of familiarizing and recognizing her needs I was introduced to heroes like physical therapists, speech therapists, and caring paraeducators who shed their passion over me. I absorbed the knowledge and built my skill set based on the adults that supported my family along the way. I believe education starts in the simplicity of emotions and experiences. I like to emphasize personal interests and celebrate milestones in the classroom.
I am excited to begin this chapter at Rockridge Little School and can’t wait to create memories in this beautiful community!
What’s your superpower in the classroom?
I can make the best play dough from scratch with a little love. I also bring my silliness to any conversation or discussion.
What makes working with young children special to you?
I treasure storytelling amongst others and bringing in our collective thoughts on a topic brought up by our friends.
