Alexandra

Director of Broadway Campus

I have been working in the field of Early Childhood Education for over 15 years and have been proud to be part of the Rockridge Little School community for the past 10. During my career, I have had the opportunity to grow through a variety of roles, including Assistant Teacher, Head Teacher, Assistant Director, and now Director. Each position has deepened my appreciation for the magic of early learning and the joy of nurturing both children and teachers.

Even as a young girl, I knew I was meant to be a teacher. When I played “school” with my friends and sisters, I always took on the role of the teacher—it just felt natural. When I began my first professional teaching position, that same sense of purpose and joy returned, confirming that I was exactly where I was meant to be. I love engaging with children through play, conversation, and exploration. They have such a wonderful way of seeing the world, and their honesty and curiosity never fail to make me smile. I especially enjoy doing hands-on activities like science experiments, cooking projects, and anything that invites a little creative mess! Seeing the excitement and pride on children’s faces as they learn something new is truly rewarding.

My passion also extends to my leadership role. I find great fulfillment in mentoring teachers as they develop their practice and in supporting families as they navigate the joys and challenges of parenting. Building strong, trusting relationships within our community is one of the most important parts of my work.

I am a proud Mexican American and fluent in both English and Spanish. I was born and raised in California—my mother from Oakland and my father from Mexico—and I value the cultural richness that my heritage brings to my work and to our school community. I have been married to my best friend and soulmate for 20 years, and together we have three wonderful children: Alex, who is in college, and our younger ones, Max and Emma, both in elementary school. I’m very family-oriented and love spending time with my close and extended family. We enjoy camping, taking road trips, and simply gathering for barbecues and laughter-filled weekends.

As I continue to grow with Rockridge Little School, I hope to share not only my culture and language, but also a deep love of learning that inspires children, families, and teachers alike. Each year reminds me of the power of connection and community, and I’m truly excited for all that lies ahead with our dedicated team and families.
